A subdomain is a part of a web address which is under the main domain, for example name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Each subdomain could have its own site and records and can even be hosted using a different company if you want to use a certain feature that's not provided by your current provider. An illustration for using a subdomain is if you have a company website as well as an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. You can also have a forum where they can discuss the products and by employing subdomains rather than subfolders you will avoid any chance of all websites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping your sites separated is less risky in the case of a script security breach.
Subdomains in Hosting
Our hosting packages will enable you to create numerous subdomains for every domain hosted within your account without any hassle. Assuming that the main domain address is added, it will take 2 clicks to create a subdomain and pick what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and management. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the total number of subdomains that you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our semi-dedicated servers don't have a set limit for the number of subdomains you can create. Adding a new subdomain within the account takes just a couple of mouse clicks within the Hepsia website hosting CP and throughout the process you can pick the folder the subdomain is going to access if it will be different from the default one, set up tailor-made error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions if you need them or create a dedicated IP address instead of the shared server one if you have added this upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. Once the subdomain is created, you will be able to access logs and visitor stats or swiftly jump to the site files for it inside the File Manager area via instant access buttons. All subdomains you've got inside the account will be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you'll be able to find and control any one of them easily.
